Question Sag repair questions on 99 jimmy. Please respond with helpful info

hey ive got a 99 jimmy slt 4 door. the passenger leaf sags and the right rear tire seems to sit in more than all other tires. Im debating on doing an add a leaf or shackles to help. i honestly think add a leaf is my way to go but im worried that if i put the add a leaf in both sides will be lifted 1-2 inches, but i will still have the right rear being lower than all other corners. I definetley need some input from you guys. Any help is good help. Thank you all. Also as far as add a leafs go, which type are better (advantages and disadvanages of short aal vs. long aal) Thanks again.

Have you checked the saggy leaf pack for a bent or broken leaf? have you done anything with your front torsion bar adjusters? that can make a vehicle lean as well. AAL wont fix your problem, just raise the rear of the vehicle.

yes ive got the bars adjusted so both sides in front are sitting at 33in from wheelwell to ground. i dont see any broken or bent leafs, it is just very tired. there are 190000 miles on the rig.

I'm with Diata on this one! An aal won't fix the problem. If there is a yard around you with other blazers or jimmys in it I would check them out and possibly swap in a new(used) leaf pack and see if that helps you out any. The other thing is to replace both rear leaf packs with new of course that will be more expensive but it is an option

Maybe you need rear leaves(pair). overloaded? heavy towing? I would be concerned if it just happened. Or did you just notice? my 96 sagged(1.5" or more), but both sides did equally.

So the front sits level, but the rear doesn't? When you check your torsion bar height are you jacking up the rear axle at the differential(in the middle of the rear axle)? this will take your rear springs out of the equation when adjusting your torsion bars.

yeah...these guys are right on.

add a leaf and shackles wont help you at all.

my leaf packs where so toasted that i went to the yard and picked up two new to me packs and made a bastard pack...it worked so well i had to shorten me shackle length to get leveled back out.

i will check the bars again the way you described. never thought of that. it was saggy when i bought it. there isnt even a hitch on it. its got a ball on the bumper that isnt used haha. im gonna price new and used leafs. could i replace the stock ones with a pair off of a zr2 blazer or highrier jimmy. the sonoma highrider and s10 zr2 leafs wont fit correct?

If you have the ability, i would make a pack like warthog said. You can take the smaller leafs out of a full size truck then replace/add them to your old pack. As long as you use your oridgional longest leaf youre fine. If you add any then you may have to get longer U bolts
