Default helpful info maybe on paint

I live in a state where salt is readily used by the road crews and we have an unusual amount of humidity.. This makes it nearly impossible to keep rust from creeping up onto my parts.

Anyway I found an industrial paint called "RUST BULLET" when this stuff goes on there is almost noway to get it off even the evil salt is no match. Dents have not even chipped it off.

I have rust beginning to form on my Spare tire mount. Guy said he would sandblast it and repaint it for $150. Sounds pretty fair to me but I have no idea. Could I use that Rust Bullet paint for the tire mount? Where did you find it?

That would be a good price for the blast and paint but even though there are good auto paints, I do not beleive the good iso's are even made, you will have rust again in a couple of years especially in an "salt" state. The "RUST BULLET" was originally made for the cargo ship industry and somewhere somebody decided, how would this work on me car. Independent tests all agreed that this is one tuff paint.

I have been using it on all new parts (except high heat), and for the undercarriage and body. Boy does it take a beating. For prep you only have to take off loose rust, clean it with acetone and spray, brush. roll. The first coating is gray in color and needs at least 2 coats, I think they say you can use any top coat you want, I choose to use their Black overcoat.

They recommend using an airless sprayer due to the fact that the product is very senstitive to moisture. Hugh humidity, sweat, not good. But if you body guy has a good filteration system on his reg. gun then he should be able touse itwith no problem.

There is a competitive company that makes a product that is almost as good just not quite there, Ill give you both sites.

Do you think that I would need to buy this myself or talk to the body guy and have him work it out? If I had to buy it, how much?

Unless your body guy buys the rust bullet in qty then it would be just as easy if you bought it, or if you just want your body guy to handle it all that works too.

I'll give you the prices for the rust bullet proper (gray color coating) and then the Black shell.

RB: 1/4 pint $ 8.99 approx 6 sq. ft. with 2 coatings **(2 coatings are always required)
1 pint $ 23.99 approx 25 sq.ft " "
1 quart $36.99 approx 50 sq.ft." "
1gal $116.99 approx 200 sq ft. " "

BS: 1/4 pint $ 9.99 approx 12 sq. ft only 1 coat is all that is needed but I stayed with the 2 coats.
1 pint $23.99 approx 50 sq.ft.
1 qt. $39.99 approx 100 sq.ft.
1 gal. $146.99 approx 400 sq.ft.

hope this helps
