They are Gabriel brand shocks. I have never tried them personally. We sell quite a few with no complaints I have heard. Just my 2 cents.

Ok, from what I gather, the red shocks (Guardians) are intended to passenger vehicles and/or to replace shocks for an OE feel. The black ones (Pro Guards) are intended for lights trucks and advertise a "larger diameter piston head" and "increased oil capacity to dissipate heat" Here is some more info:

these shocks are for the 4x4 right? also the black ones do not have a dust cover over the top rod, is that important to keep debris out? i also noticed the black shock is stiffer/harder to compress, is this better for bouce control? thanks

Yes, the shocks are for the 4x4. The dust cover is not that important IMO unless you plan on taking your truck off-road. Then, I would suggest getting a shock with a dust cover to help protect them from mud and other debris. Yes, the black shock is stiffer to provide better bounce control on heavier vehicles.

so in your opinion, do you think the black stiffer ones would be better over the cheaper red shocks for my truck? my truck is a 95 S10 4x4 vortec automatic with a cap on the bed and extended cab. im guessing the truck is pretty heavy and could use the stiffer shocks. what you think?

so is a 95 4x4 Vortec S10 pick up truck extended cab with a cap on it heavier than a 95 4x4 Vortec Blazer 4 door ?

I would think the blazer would be heavier. But don't quote me on that. Yes, the stiffer shocks would probably be better.

Hey BlaziNator,
sorry to bother you again, but i just noticed that there is another front shock that your autozone lists for $32.99. Its a White colored shock that autozone sells also and they call it Gabriel Ultra, whats the difference between that and the cheaper $22.99 Gabriel black one?
thanks so much
