I had a pinion seal take a dump on me once in my 91 2 wheeler and it sounds about right. I just went and got another rear end from a junkyard and had it going the next day. Sounds like the problem here but I'd open the plug and pour in some 85W - 90 gear oil and see wheree it's running out. Depending on overhauling the present rear end or a junkyard used one it can be expensive (overhauling what you've got) or replacement ($150.00 with a guarentee), Either way don't drive it too fast or for a long distance.

Yep sounds right to me to. The only outcome of a rear "roar" is a bad diff in my experience. The cost factor is depended upon you really if you can rebuild it yourself or swap another in it won't cost a whole lot, how much you paying for the truck itself?
