Default Steering column issues

Ok I got a 1995 blazer all wheel drive automatic. For about a week I couldn't shift into park so I checked it out and it's the shift cable. Replaced that no problem though I can tell a previous mechanic was in there 2 of the dash screws were stripped out and I cut them off.

After installing the new cable I'm in a new problem. I can shift to all gears no problem but the shifts gets stuck the key will not come out of the ignition and I can shift without breaking. The key will rotate to turn the truck on and off but not come out or click back. I am at loss right now and would very much like to at least get my key back. Any ideas?
