Ok guys, I'm not real familiar with this stuff (yet), but I'm wondering if you guys can tell me what the attached picture is. The part circled in red is the pitman arm(?) right?. The part circled in green is.... what?
If I need to take a better picture, let me know. gettin dark but I might own a flashlight. maybe.

The red circle is the pitman arm. The green one is one of the tie-rod ends. This is also called a drag link on the SFA fullsize trucks due to its orientation.

awesome. any idea if the rubber bushing/spacer/thing between the pitman and the tie rod end is replaceable? or do i have to buy a new tie rod?

That is just a cap. It does not carry load. Just keeps junk out of the joint.
I am not sure if that is available separately...

So, maybe I should explain more of what my issue is. I have alot of play in the steering wheel. I had a friend turn the wheel while I watched what was moving/not moving. What I've come up with is that the play is right there, where the tie rod end, and the pitman arm connect. How would I go about correcting this? new tie rod end? new pitman arm?

If there is play in the joint, you need to replace the tie-rod end.

my assumption is that would be the outer tie rod end?

Search for 'Drag Link' at your favorite parts store (I just did it for a '79 K5 at NapaOnline.com). It will come up as either 'at pitman arm' or 'at steering arm'. You may want to do both at the same time. Loose steering connections can lead to the infamous 'death wobble' in these trucks.

i may have experienced the death wobble already, happens about 35-40 mph. the 40" tires on it dont help at all really. Dual steering stabilizer fixed that problem though. but now its time to get to the root of the issue, and work on the elec short :/
