steering wheel is loose to the rt
I recently replaced the lower ball joint, pitman & idler arm all on the rt side. Also both sway brace kits. The allignment has been done, but my steering is still loose the the right 10-15 deg(est). What could cause this?

The only thing that would cause this is the steering box. How loose is it?

10-15 deg before it starts turning

Ok, that is not what I would classify as loose. I would call that a dead spot. Only being to one side is puzzling though. There is an adjustment that can be done to the steering gear box to tighten things up, but it typically is done with the gear box on the bench, not in the vehicle. If screwed up, you will be getting another steering box.

How much would that typically set me back?

Which part, replacing the steering gear box, or finding a mechanic who actually knows how to adjust a reciprocating ball steering gear box and having him do the work required?
#9
Either way...
I'm looking at abput $400 bux for the part alone, right?

No. If you find a mechanic who knows what they are doing and can adjust it either on or off the vehicle, you may be looking at a marginal labor charge. Should be around 2-3 hours if they have to remove it, but quite a bit less if the mechanic is confident enough to be able to do it on the vehicle.
