Default Stiff steering in mud!

My 1998 lt seems to overflow the pump if there is any obstacles beside the front wheels, i have 31x10.5 with quite some sidebiters on them, and i'd like to be able to use them when mildly stuck. But as soon there is any resistance, the servo system just plays dead, even happens in deep sand.!
Is it possible to adjust the line pressure/overflow valve?

I've heard of people replacing the valving inside to get higher pressure. I just swapped my whole pump with one from a 2000 3/4 ton silverado. Bolts right in, and has significantly higher pressure. Cost about 75 bucks for the pump, with a new tank included.
