Stuck in 4 high!

I have a 2000 GMC Jimmy, how do use the four-wheel-drive last night about a half-mile down the road my service 4 x 4 light popped on. Now I am stuck in for high and can't get out. Any ideas what could be causing this?

So today at 60* in my truck went right into 2 Wheel Drive! What do you guys think it could be that when it's cold it starts acting up?
