Sway bar links repair
While under the front end changing the oil, I noticed my sway bar links have no nut on the other side of the bolt through the lower control arm. Not too big of a deal until I tried actually removing those bolts. The bolt and the top washer are fused together and nothing will get them apart. Does anyone see a problem with using a hack saw to cut the bolt?
Also, once I remove the bolt and all the bushings, will the sway bar still remain in place, i.e., ready to accept the new bolt/bushings/spacer? I know, silly question, but just want to be safe.
Thank you.
Allan

Just cut the bolt and go to your local parts store and get a new kit. But make sure you put the nut on the end when you put it back together.
And yes, it will just stay in place till you move it.

Okay, that went quite smooth. Man, what a difference in handling.
One last question about tightening the nut and bolt: should I tighten until I can't tighten anymore and the bushings are squeezed to about 2/3" or so?
Thanks again,
Allan

Here is wha the Haynes manual says to torque them to. Clamp to frame bolts 48 ft*lbs, i dont think this is the bolt you are talking about, but here is the one I think it is, Link nut-to-lower control arm 132 in-lbs. Good luck, if you want just check out the manual at your library or buy a copy off the web or your local car parts store.
