Ok, I replaced the fluid in my T-Case this weekend but then saw a bunch of posts here about different kinds of fluid. So, can someone confirm that my transfer case uses standard ATF. It is an '89 S10 blazer, 4.3L 4x4.
Also, I drained the T-Case and got out justover 3 quarts, however, it barely took 2 quarts to refill and it was coming back out the fill hole. Thoughts?
Thanks,
Jay

Did you remove the fill plug before you removed the drain plug? It is possible that the transmission rear seal is bad, allowing fluid into the transfer case, causing your over full condition.
Your transfer case uses straight ATF fluid. It isn't until the newer auto4wd and AWD transfer cases that the GM Autotrak 2 fluid is required.

I think even the newer 3 button t-case can use ATF, but I can't remember for sure...
I know it could use autotrac II, and that's what I put in, because it's blue... Not the best reasoning for the cost, but, oh well, lol.

Do you think it sould hurt to leave it alone even if it was leaking? I only use this vehicle in the woods a couple of times a month.
