Default Terrible Hard Clunking

In my son's 1995 Blazer 4WD, whgen you turn the wheels all the way to the right and move forward (in 2 wheel drive), there is a very hard clunking every couple seconds as you move forward. I believe this is a bad CV Joint. So what I need help with... is it easiest to replace the whole shaft/axel/joint (if rebuilts are available); also, is there anywhere that I can find details on how to remove and replace the assembly.

Any help is appreciated.
