Default Torsion Bars 1994 K5 Blazer

Hello all,

I am resident in South Africa and I have had the pleasure of driving a 1994 K5 V8 4WD Blazer since 2009 with very few problems.

I recently snapped my passenger side torsion bar. I want to replace both. Can anyone please give me the correct part numbers for my vehicle model and a good place to order new ones.

I would also like to get hold of the correct and closest workshop manual for the vehicle. I believe it is almost the same as the Tahoe in 19956. I am also looking for a drivers side electric mirror and any help with a part number will be appreciated.

Regards

Dave

Concerning the torsion bars, you'll need to verify the front suspension code in your RPO code label found on the inside of the glove box door. There will be two codes starting with 6 & 7 with the final two characters matching.

Code --- Max Torque --- Left PN --- Right PN
GL --- 8782 --- 15528965 --- 15528966
GK --- 8615 --- 15528963 --- 15528964
GG --- 6790 --- 15528957 --- 15528958
GD --- 5305 --- 15528953 --- 15528954

There are a few others listed on the Wholesale GM Parts catalog, but they do not match up side to side. I would bet yours would be the lower max torque values given that it is a short wheelbase 1/2 ton.

These things aren't cheap. I had to replace mine on my old 2004 Tahoe.

For manuals, I would look to eBay for a good used factory service manual. If that doesn't work for you, you can see what AllDataDIY.com offers. I tend to use both resources; hard copy FSM and AllDataDIY for my vehicles. For the FSM, you will be looking for the "C/K" as well as the light truck manuals. There will be a light truck unit repair manual, a C/K service manual, and, if I remember correctly, an emissions/electrical diagnosis manual.

For the mirror, that should be the same as any other GM truck of the same year. Aftermarket alternatives to OE parts are available and much cheaper. CLICK HERE for an eBay auction on a pair of outside rear view mirrors for your application.
