Default Transfer case question

My blazer has a new process 261 ratio transfer case. My question is.... Is this transfer case's fluid fed from the transmission? I'm new to the whole 4x4 thing and am kinda stumped.

You really need to figure out what is in your truck. In the '84 K5 (please put your vehicle information in your signature and attach it to your posts), the stock transfer case was an NP208. With all of them, the transfer case fluid is separate from the transmission. The NP208 will use standard ATF. Unless your truck was converted to a driver side drop front axle, you couldn't use an NP261 transfer case.

And you can't always go by the color of the fluid that is in there. So many people use the wrong stuff and scratch their head when their clutch starts binding on them. NV236/NV246/NV136 all require Autotrac 2 fluid.
