i have a 92 fullsize blazer when driving down the highway the 4wd selector jumps from 2wd high into neut. when i try to put it bach into 2wd high it grinds also it grinds when i try to put it into 4wd high or low and it makes a noise somtimes when i put it into rev i just got this truck and am not sure what is going on also is there a indicator light or something to tell if it is in 4wd because i am not sure it is even engaging if anyone can help please let me know. i have been told the transfer case is bad but i dont know

 

Sure sounds like the detent for 2HI is not proper. I will have a look at my references when I get home tonight and see what I can turn up.

The transition to 4HI should be smooth when already in 2HI. You cannot go from HI range to LO range with the truck moving much over a crawl.
