Upper control arm 4x4
#11
Finally got around to installing my upper control arm this weekend. A lot easier then expected. Biggest problem I had was when I put back together the passenger side I pulled out my cv axle. But got it all back together.
Getting the driver side done I got an early Christmas gift from the blazer. I have a shot shock absorber! Less then a year and it's already gone... gonna get a cheap one to get me threw my road trip and change them to a blestein set in the new year.
90$ for the pair of control arms with bushings and ball joints pre installed. Happy with the price but just gonna see how long they last.

So since I've done the control arms... I have been keeping an eye out on my tire angles. And so far my driver aide is better but my passenger side has gone back to being on an angle, only a few days after. I will be taking it to a shop to get advice.
the only good news from the blazer is that I got my heat back! But woke up to a dead stereo deck...

Glad you got them done.
Looking at your last picture with the tire tread in the foreground, it looks like you have quite the angle on the CV joints. Did you do a torsion-bar lift? If so, I'm wondering if you could share why you did not go with aftermarket upper control arms (e.g. Superlift or Rough Country) that are designed to compensate for the new angle for the upper ball joints.

I had to do my upper bushings and ball joint in aug but I wanted a lift to so just went with the rough country 2.5" lift. it came with the control arms for the torson lift figured it would be cheaper in the long run. And ya the winter is already rough up here in sask

I've bee wanting to get the 2.5" lift kit from rough country, but my budget is what' holding me back from getting it. The blazer is my dd and I need it on a daily basis. So I gotta get what I can afford at the time unfortunately. Come the new year I will be sneaking money to the side in order to get it.
unfortunately I am currently looking into my lower control arms and ball joint... I believe I might have bent something last time I hit a pothole

I had to sneak it away for the kit too with the exchange rate and quick shipping cost about 1000 then 71 for import fees. I found out the shop next to my work sells them after I ordered online and they do like a payment plan for it. Maybe check some shops

I totally get the calculus concerning price and having it be a DD. Mine is a bit of a daily driver too.

Mine is the only dd we have so I did it in 2 weekends rear first then the front the next weekend but I saved a lot for it just prayed my bushings would last long enough. I did my idler arm while I was doing everything but I got the steering stabilizer at the same time. I’ve seen on here you can get the drop brackets for the front diff from rough country if u call them
