Default urgent need of help.possible leak from rear end. see pictures

Hello I noticed today after looking underneath blazer. It may be leaking. The pan in back has been changed has no leaks. In front of the rear end where the drive shaft looks up the U joints. I noticed a wetness on the U joint on rear end. You can see where underneath on the underside of the body that has been spatting grease all around. I'm having difficulty uploading a picture otherwise I would. It's not noticeable leaking it's just a wetness and like I said I noticed grease spat it all around the underside of the body. I just bought this truck a month ago and then trying to get repairs out of the way. Any advice thank you

Welcome to the forum. Your pinion seal is leaking. The part where the U-joint connects is called the yoke. Not making any noise is a good sign.

Timken makes excellent quality seals, not something to cheap out on considering the labor involved in replacing them. A knowledgeable, experienced ring and pinion technician can get the pinion bearing preload set correctly. That's necessary to replace the pinion seal. I'd want the internals inspected in case it's been run dry due to the leak. It's always cheaper and easier to repair it before it turns into a maraca.

Could I just top off fluid occasionally. Until I can get it fixed or is it okay to drive as is

If it's not making noise and you're committed to keeping it full. It should last until the seal is replaced. Check it often because it's going to leak worse as the miles add up. I've personally never seen any type of stop leak additive actually work on axle seals. When your new beast starts marking it's parking space you're out of time.

A you tube video can show how to check and add oil to a GM 10 bolt rear differential.

I have a 1996 GMC Jimmy 4 wheel drive it's crashed in the front. If I need will the all-wheel-drive rear end work on the two wheel

The 4 wheel drive rear end is wider from wheel mounting surfaces than a 2 wheel drive.
