Default What brake pads should I use on my 1997 ZR2 Blazer?

So my brake pads up front are starting to squeak and I'm trying to figure out what type of pads I should get. I use it offroad a lot as I live in the mud and dirt. However, I plan on upgrading it to make more than the stock 190 hp so I will need better than organic. I have every type as an option except the carbon ceramic. I have been looking at carbon metallic but they are expensive. Anyone tried experimenting with pads?

The best pads I've ever used were EBC Yellow Stuff, but they're also expensive. Realistically, any "premium" semi-metallic or ceramic pad should be more than sufficient.

I got the slotted and drilled anti rust ones from Amazon. I've noticed an improved in stoping and life span of the pads.

Many people esp. those on a budget, like to replace just the pads without replacing the rotors ,too. I think this is alright to do as long as the rotor thickness is not under the minimum stamped on the rotor in mm's. For example 25.4 MM stamped on the rotor. The current practice is to not turn the rotors , but replace them since the price for rotors has come down. Power Stop, EBC, and many others have package deals for Rotors and brake pads.
Here is a short vid on where to look for this stamping on the rotor.

i went with Wagner OE Ceramics on my truck when i recently did its rear calipers. even though the front brakes are also shot just the rears can bring it 60 to 0 in, well nobody ever times it and neither do i, but decelerates quickly enough to send me out of the seat (and further into the brake pedal.) without a seatbelt on.

Ceramics are the way to go in my opinion. Not that it makes much of a difference when you're off-roading a lot and getting the truck dirty, but brake dust is non-existent with them, and to me they just seem to last a little longer than standard semi-metallic. I've heard from others that they eat up rotors faster than semi metallic, but I've never really noticed that myself...

I was wondering when you convert the stock rotors to 'drilled and slotted' aftermarket version, does the amount of brake dust generated due to the slots and holes increase ? It would seem that it would make more dust just due to the design. Does the amount of Pad wear increase ?
I keep reading about 'EBC Yellow Stuff' and Power Stop kits with both D & S rotors and Ceramic pads included. Which manuf. is the preferred one for the S-10 Blazer ?

I didn't even put 100 miles on my Blazer between buying it and doing the SAS, so I don't have much experience with the stock brakes. But I've run EBC yellow pads on several other vehicles, with and without drilled and slotted rotors, and they're amazing, IMO. They wear pretty fast and make a lot of dust, but they STOP. I didn't see much difference in wear or dust (or performance) between drilled and "normal" rotors.

Put the Power Stop drilled/slotted rotors with carbon-fiber ceramic pads on my 2000 Blazer about 6 months ago. Haven't noticed any brake dust, good stopping power and been great so far.
