Default whining sound think power steering

Hello there, I have a 2000 blazer Lt 4wd. couple weeks ago when i started my truck i started to hear a whining sound under the hood. Then my transmission went out on me. I just got the tranni rebuilt along with the transfer case, and i can still here the wining sound. it fluxuates when i steer the wheel left and right, and gets just a little louder when i rev the motor. but stops after 1500 rpm and the starts back up when at idol. so i know its not the wheel bearings. or transmisson. i know i need some new brakes soon, had to get 4 new rotors 2 years ago, along with a intake manifold gasket. do you think my power steering pump is starting to go. Help

Have you checked the power steering fluid level?

You could try sucking as much fluid out with a turkey baster and filling it back up with fresh fluid.

Is the fluid frothy looking?

It sounds like it may have air in it. I would definitely try to get as much out as possible, then refill. Jack the front end off the ground and cycle the steering from lock to lock leaving the engine off. Do that 10-15 times and then suck out the fluid again. Repeat until you have consistent fluid color.

well im getting my taxes soon well i hope to get $ back and im going to take it in and have my brakes done, so ill probably have them fix that while there at it, also is the power steering and the brakes pretty much on the same system, im not to sure im not a mechanic just a handy man, i cant really do to much work to my truck for 1 i live in a apartment complex witch looks down on people doing vehicle repair, and 2nd i dont have the right tools to do major repairs. I have a hard enough time changeing the oil since i have no ramps and it sits so low, i can bearly turn my head under there. or i just have a big head. lol.
