Default Wow! I'm shocked on prices...

My 4x4 blazer's steering has been getting sloppy all of the sudden. I replaced all the steering components from the steering box out to the spindles. Well... I took the wheels off and behold... There's hardly any rubber left in my upper control arm bushings on my passengers side. Well... I figure with 200,000miles on it. I ought to look into ball joints while I have it apart. And WOW!!!! I looked at advance auto parts. $65 for the bushings on bothe sides, and $74 for the good ball joints each! $215'ish to rebuild only the uppers, another $180 for both lower ball joints.
Now... should I just do the bushings and ball joints on the side that needs it? Will that cause my blazer to pull to the side I haven't done anything too. Money is kinda tight... Should I just look for used parts with less mileage than mine? I just got new tires today and I don't want to wear out my tires on the front. It wasn't previously wearing the tires funny. It was just randomly swaying around on the road. Ideas????

Check out Power Performance Motorsports - CLICK

Really good reviews and tested to be stronger than Moog. I will be using these when it comes time again. For roughly the same as your price for just lowers you can get uppers and lowers. Or just under $500 for the whole shebang to rebuild the entire front end - minus the control arm bushings. For those I would check out Energy Suspension and go for the black kit or individual bushings in black. $60 shipped for a control arm bushings far superior to stock.

I'm up for any ideas on cheaper prices. LOL! But I do know that somethings I buy better be good quality. Like with the balljoints.. I could get cheapy ones. But I don't want to change them for awhile. When I searched everyone likes the MOOG brand. So that's what I was pricing from. On monday I'm going to call my sister-in-laws husband. He works at the local chevy dealership. Hopefully he'll have some good news for me.
I still can't believe how much this fix will costs me if I do it right. But I'm still wondering if I can get by with putting new stuff on the passengers side with out touching the drivers. And not have any issues with alignment or driving issues. The sad thing is after I put all the steering stuff on it. I had it aligned. And when I got it back I swear it was worse than it was before it went in. I bet they didn't even look at the bushings... I know I didn't.... well until now

yeah the ones from rockauto are good parts and still cheaper prices. like delco rapid fire plugs are 3.40 a piece on there. which from what I found like 2 bucks cheaper at least the nearest auto parts store.

Rockauto is great for stock replacements, but the OP said he wanted to do it right the first time. The parts I linked to will outlast and outperform stock parts.

$485 for that kit, then just gotta do hubs. I bought nationals as they were the "premium" brand at the parts store, and have held up perfect so far with offset rims.

(TripleBlackBlazer) Those are a pretty good deal on the lower and upper balljoints. If my brother-in-law doesn't find some good prices through the dealership I'm going to go with those. And I never thought about using poly bushings on my blazer. Where's a good spot to look at them? I'm getting ready to search "summit racing" but I'm not for sure if they'd carry them for a 4x4. I got my full set of energy suspension poly's for a must GT that I fixed up. But I got them off EBAY. What's a good start for finding them?

*Combining consecutive posts*

Wow... That only took like 5 seconds of searching on Summit's site. They have the upper and lower bushings in a kit for $48. Now... I'm going to search how to put them in. The "summit site" says I have to re-use the metal sleeve from the old bushings. I'm going to see if this means I just have to burn out the old rubber and I slide the new poly's in. My mustang I had to press the old out and press the new poly's in.
