I've read the other posts about checking the vacuum lines etc, but I cant help but think this is different.
If I put it into any 4wd mode, 4hi - 4lo,I get a grinding clicking noise coming from the hubs. I know this was working before, but it recently went screwy thats another reason i dont think its the vacuum line.
82 gmc Jimmy, has floor lever for shifting 4wd mode.
Thanks in advance, need to get this fixed this weekend.

my 84 did this and upon inspection i found out my wheel bearing nuts had backed out. tightened them but didnt make my 4wd start workin again so i changed the auto lock hubs and they work great now with no grindin.

Whatup Y'all. Replace the auto locking hubs with warn manual locking hubs for 100 bucks.
Instructions werent very good good but it was a snap after a couple of confusing starts. Only thing i would note not in the instructions is that after removing the ring behind the assembly you also have to take out the washing that it is holding back, only then the ring will fit back in to keep the hub in place.
Thanks
