Default ZR-2 Rear Axle in Standard Blazer

I know that this probibly hasbeen covered in another thread but I was wanting to get a ZR-2 Rear axle and put it in my 2000 Blazer. I believe that it is an lt model and also will the leaf springs bolt right up without having to cut the mounts on the axle and re-weld the.

Thanks for any help possible

i can't weigh in on the technical aspects of this, but i can tell you that you should double check the ZR2 donor's gear ratio. It will most likely be 3.73 and different than what you are currently running (probably 3.43) so you will be thrilled all the way until you toss it into 4wd the first time.

i wish i could offer more help, but at least you can check that off of the potential problems list

thanks for the thought...i was hoping that it is a 3.73 because id like to change my gear ratio in both the front and rear for a little bit more gas mileage or just to have a bit more fun...would you happen to know if the mounting platforms are in the same location so i can just bolt up the zr2 rear end?

I'm going to go out on a limb and say it will be an easy bolt in swap. Keep in mind, the ZR2 axle is 3.9" wider than the non-Z axle.

3.73's would not improve gas mileage would make it worse since the engine would be at a higher rpm to go the same speed as the 3.43's
