ZR-2 axles vs. Standard axles
I have a stock 2 door blazer and I recently lifted the front of my truck the cheap way by cranking on the torsion bars 10 full turns on both sides. . . now my front axles are making noise on the highway and blowing grease all over the place, so I brought the front down 4 turns on either side. I went to the store to buy replacement axles and wondered if the ZR-2 axles would fit better in the front of my truck if i cranked up the front end again. Auto zone or advanced auto have no clue and I don't want to buy them to find out the hard way.
Anybody know the difference between the ZR-2 axles and the standard ones? And is it possible to use ZR-2 axles with a regular blazer, if so, what mods to i need?

I know there's a difference in the axles as I couldn't find a zr2 axle when I needed one, the standard one was no problem. My favorite parts house here said they were on backorder with no projected delivery date. He said it was a frequent problem with the zr2. You might have a hard time finding zr2 axles rebuilt. The outer bearing I believe works with either axle as I was told there was just one parts number for that. I doubt the output shaft is different from the front diff. but I really don't know that. Makes you wonder if they wouldn't be interchangeable but it'd be a lot of hassle to find them and tear your front end apart to compare.
i found out the difference. The ZR 2 axle is around 2-4 inches longer than the standard axle between the joints. The shaft input and output to the wheel are identical. Since I didn't agressively change my front end, i stuck with the standard axles.
My axles are still making noise. I'm pretty sure it's because the torsion bars are raising the front end a little too much. I really don't want to have to bring the front end down. . . stock with the blazer is just too d*mn low. Any suggestions?
