Default Zr2 cv joints in non Zr2

Is there any benefit to installing a Zr2 cv axle in a non Zr2 that has been lifted? I noticed the Zr2 axle is 1/4" longer and was wondering if it would be a benefit seeing as how I need to replace both front axles and they are only $2 in the difference

Pretty sure a Z CV shaft is more than a 1/4" longer than a non Z. You could try but i dont think they'll work.

The napa site actually gives you the length measurements and it is only a 1/4" longer. Sucks they won't fit thought it might help out with the cv angles and possible cv boot slippage problem, oh well cost money to play 2 stock axles it is!

Do you still have the factory plastic boots on your axles with the gear clamps?

the outer boots are factory clamped.
the boots that slipped were the inner near the diff.
the clamps went on at the end of the boots closest to the diff on both driver and pass side.

here is a thread on the slippage issue

Dont forget the lube packs if the boot spun out any lube.
And wipe down all the surfaces for a good seal...and dont over tighten them.
