Very respectable. Gotta get a bit better on the clutch release to keep that wheel spin down!!

Cool, I wasn't sure what these could do stock on the quarter mile but that is better than I was thinking. I was used to my 94 SHO that could do a 1/4 mile stock in 14.5 seconds and then with the few performance upgrades I did to it, it was doing a 1/4 mile in 14.1seconds. I wonder what the blazer would run with exhaust, an intake, and a ECM flash/power programmer?

To answer that question, 15 flat. Thats why my buddy's 97 2 door 2wd ran with those same items. Probably could have done better than that but he sucks at driving stick and he never would let me drive it. Was a nice blazer too, till it met a light pole.

How would you drag race the automatic? just put it in drive or manual shift from 1 - 2 - 3 - D. I think the later is what my friend does in his Monte Carlo, wasnt sure if this would be bad on the blazers transmission.

i dont think its my skills with a clutch. rather than the track i was on and tires to go with that. i launched at 2500rpm's and even peddled it to try a get traction ... never really helped though. ... o and i almost forgot the locker i have in it started giving out so it wouldnt lock up all the time. what is everybody else launching at with a 5spd blazer

I found no real difference between eithermethod on the auto trans. If anything i prefer to run in drive as it limits revs to 5000 vs 5600. The extra 600 rpms have minimal power associated with them. Only other thing i do isoff the light is i brake stand it up to 1300 - 1500 rpms and launch out of that.

Personally I just can't see myself drag racing a Blazer. Back when I lived near a 1/4 mile track I was more usedto racingmy Shelbyand making12 and 13second quarter miles. I did see someone last weekend at the 1/8th mile track race a full-size with HUGE swampers though....he made 15 seconds in his 1/8th mile. But then again those things aren't made for speed, especially equipped with those rims and tires.

For drag racing an auto with a "factory" style transmission... Use 3rd... You'll never go any faster in a stock-ish blazer to need 4th, lol, and I think the torque converter is less likely to kick in (On my old Lumina Z34 which had the 4T60-E... basically the FWD version of the Blazer's transmission, it worked.)

Using 1s and 2nd is kinda pointless... There's no reason to hold the RPM's any longer, and on my old Lumina, anyway, 1st and second actually had parasitic vacuum loss due to the gears used mostly for slowing down... Not sure if the Blazer's work the same way, though...

Brake torque the Blazer to probably about 1800 - 2200 RPM... Maybe 2500RPM, if she goes that high... Not sure what range the beastie has for that sort of thing, as I drive a 5 speed...

Speaking of which, is it just me, or does the 5 speed seem a little tougher to shift into 3rd when at high (above 4000) rpm's?
