I have never done a burnout in the Blazer
Looking at the urban wheeling thread.... I have never done a burnout in the blazer... Spun the tires, but never pumped the front brake and let the rears spin......
And I am under 25...... wtf........:icon_shrug: :icon_couchhide: |
Then you won't have to make a thread about how your tires wear out so soon or what lousy gas mileage you're getting. :icon_razz:

But seriously, I have never roasted the tires, and IDK why, I am tempted tonight, but its wet out, so it would be easy to loose control.... plus its not good behavior.... On the tire side... I looked at a set of 325/50/15? I think drag radials... a little smaller than stock height... but would be kinda funny.... I wonder how many people are in my boat..... Sign ya name 1. wlorton 2. 3. 4. 5. Bet we dont get 15..... |
i've squeaked mine but never "roasted" them. i don't like changing ring and pinions.
|
on wet pavement yes, but theres no way i can even slightly spin my tires on dry pavement
|
i've never burned em on dry pavement and im 17.....
|
hmmm reading above... been there, seen it & was dumbass like it & it was cool!!! lol ... that being said I've lit them up, even with the G80 vin/diff code, next week omfg easy there Tom, don't 'walk that old lady in the mercury off the line because you have 3 blocks to do that with... no, next week I'll be testing my patience with quite possibly 300+hp ... light em up?... oh hell yeah! But like I said in another thread, I've only done that 3 times with the blazer (WOT = wide open throttle - boaters will understand lol) But I'm sure with the 32" MT's I can leave more rubber on my works' parking lot when I get pissed off.
<edit> there's a link (youtube) in superchargers etc about a guy that says "this should answer your question" lit em the freak up for a good 60 feet or so after a burnout BUT thats no stalker, keep that in mind for your transmission etc |
19 here, spun a few tires in my short driving history but never done a burnout. Spun 'em about half a block with my FWD van with newer 245/55s, in my dad's old Silverado Vortec 5.7 (through 1st and 2nd), and in the trusty Blazer (once) at work. Didn't do too bad but I wouldn't ever do a burnout with it. My old S10 would've been great though, TBI 4.3 and no rear brakes
|
Last time I spun the tires. I was making a left and hit a puddle and did a 180 spin in traffic. The next day I was at Firestone getting new rear tires installed. My truck I really do not drive hard or really care how fast it is. I'm over my tuner days.
|
I'm 17 and I never did a burnout especially not in my Blazer I did squeal the tires though but it was wet pavement so it doesn't count. :icon_razz:
|
hugh I cant beleive my what my eyes are reading , I'm 33 and I have definatly let her eat . But it sure does take a tole on your truck definatly not worth it . But on the other had good way to make sure every thing is good cause whats not is probably coming apart . I just replaced my motor mounts and they pretty much just fell out , plus the rear brake line . So i guess no more burn outs for me . 4 now .

10 or so of these and you will be replacing the spider gears. yes my truck is open diff, but you can get a decent posi burnout goin if you coax it enough |
I toasted my tires before I got my 31's...
http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=1301431899046 not sure if you guys can watch that or not... |
I could watch it... but which one is you?
|
I don't have the heart to do that to my new Wranglers... Expensive tires with a soft compound... ummm no lol.
I did do it in my buddy's car though, he was replacing his tires that day so we made the old ones bald... we ended up going to the shop on the spare though lmao |

just tell your mom you were giving the old rubber a "last hurrah"

I can honestly say I've never even tried don't think the 2.8L could even do a burnout in my car and if it could it would be pretty pathetic.
|
what's wrong with you guys? I'm 23 and I've done a ton of burnouts in every vehicle i've ever owned. Hell even in my old 87 subaru justy 1.0 3 cyl 5 speed. I've got kuhmo a/t's on my blazer and i've burned them a few times but they like to just hook up and take off. I guess i'm crazy cause I'm a drag racer at heart.
|
Add me to the list of "Not". I didn't buy the Blazer to do burnouts. I bought it for its offroad capabilities.
Now, I've owned other vehicles that I've done burnouts in, mainly a Corvette and Camaro SS. Don't own either of those anymore. |

Point being...stating your a drag racer at heart has nothing to do with burn outs. Majority of us do not burn out because tires cost money and if you have responsibilities like all adults do. Why burn that money off for a few seconds of smoke with marks that wear off before the week ends. To me seeing people burning out is stupid especially at redlights. WHO CARES! Sorry I still race at the track, but seeing kids on the streets doing this makes me ill. I dare someone to run into me showing off...especially with my kids in the car. Think that person will own a car for a few years? /end speech |
Is it still "burning out" if its in mud? If not, I got a little smoke once when I was stuck on a rock ;)
|
I had a '96 Blazer years ago (may she rest in peace) that a friend help me mod out with performance parts off his wrecked S10 (shoulda seen it coming). Put a CAI, modded PCM, aftermarket intake of some kind, and most of the exhaust system under it (cut and pieced back together). REALLY made that 4.3 come to life and it could burn the tires as long as I cared to hold the pedal it always seemed. Burn out like that with the Jimmy though? NEVER. Grew up, got smart and quit horsin' around like that.

Been drag racing since I was 16 and never done a burnout in the blazer. There is no need to 'burn out' except at the drag strip to warm up your tires. That is IT. Burning out on the street is just stupid. Now doing it on tires your getting rid of. There is nothing wrong with that, but if you screw your drivetrain up doing it well you asked for it.

And being an adult as i am if i find it necessary to do a burnout i keep them contained to country roads where just in case something goes wrong i will not endanger anyone else. And besides where i'm from chicks dig burnouts.... end speech |
I love burning out. Even though its only a 1 wheel peel, its still fun. And further more, i dont see how it could be dangerous. Not like we're doing donuts. And usually, burnouts arent for longer than 5 seconds. It really does'nt waste tires that much.
But i mean, its still bad. |

lol boys will be boys (and some girls)

21 And did my first actual burnout yesterday just to test. In the parking lot 20 mins early for work I found a toonie (I was close to a tim hortons lol) Oh an a toonie is a coin that is worth 2 dollars.
Anyways from a dead stop just put the hammer down and roasted them for a second then cranked the wheel and drifted nicely out of it. Mind you I used to drift my grand am. And no I didn't just fly into a parking lot a rip the e-brake. I can actually drift a FWD car. |

Haha. Yea. I have probably 4 dollars worth of pennies, dimes and nickels in my jimmy and about another dollar on the floor lol.

the aftermath of putting stock tires on my suburban that usually had 38 inch tires on it. looked goofy as heck but was alot faster |
not going to lie..... when i was 16 and the truck belonged to Dad, i went up to a shut down elementary school's back lot and laid patch. right tire smoking and left barely moving...
it was me and my buddy with his explorer. did it once for a good 30 foot patch then left. after that, the occasional squeak when turning onto fast roads but never a "watch this" moment. |
my best ones(2) were in a 1981 chevy gaucho(full size chevy van) 350 with a pinched rear brake line.
http://memimage.cardomain.com/ride_i...003_medium.jpg 1st one was 90 feet(up hill) 2nd was 90% tread to a blow out(one spot) both were not on public roads of course. only one I have done in my blazer was inside our old shop, putting new tires on so roasted the old ones off.. hooked onto a truck outside to save brakes |
I admit I did one or two one wheel wonders when I first got it, none longer than 5-7 seconds though I'd say. Never chirped the tires while driving though I can say. I drive like an old man...
Now rolling away from a stop while spinning the tires on wet pavement, I have done two times. Once in the back of a walmart parking lot at like 3am (just to do it...) The other was just thursday. I was coming home from work at about 2:30 in the morning and had a 1st gen s10 pull up to me while driving. Rode side by side and admired each others rides. Then he turned down a side street the same way I was going. At the stop sign he wheel hopped a little bit and then turned around and looked at me. I think he had a 4 cyl. 5 speed and the pick up explains the wheel hop. Yes it was wet it had rained a good bit. I guess he thought I might have a 4cyl. auto trans and with the big tires I would'nt be able to do anything. We'll I mashed it all the way through 1st, let it shift, all the way through 2nd. Let it shift and half way through 3rd before I let off cause I was drifting sideways through a 3 way intersection on a empty back road. But still didn't want to take any chances. First time I had spun a tire since I got the tires and new ring and pinion gears installed. He just gave me a dirty look at the next light when I pulled up rumblin beside him, lol. He did a peg leg burnout at the light and took off in one direction. I simply slowly took off in the other direction like I normally do, with a :D on my face of cource. Like I said, I normally drive 60mph in a 70 zone on the highway, so I'm not the wreckless type at all. BTW I'm 24 |
When I was in my 20's I had an '80 GMC Sierra Grande 4x4, a true brick chit house!
Ugly as sin & had a rebuilt 350 4 bolt mains, th350 with a shift kit, np203 (think thats the one with the gear drive), a govenor driven posi rear end (12 bolt rear, 10 bolt front) rusty as all hell & started in -40C/-40F without being plugged in. You do not EVER want to do a burn out with a govenor driven posi!!! (they shift from the tire that has lost tarction to the other side, when that one spins it shoves power to both & then repeats the ordeal) Once it POPS & the rear STOPS... FUBAR is upon you lmao! They're great to have & work wonders on slippery roads & off road but are a HUGE biotch to fix... I was going down a road at 50mph after it 'popped' & it locked = no movement/rotation from the rear end OMFG what a freak lol (pieces of the ring gear lodged in the pinion & stopped any & all rotation of the rear end) But I will say, for the 20 seconds or so I enveloped my truck in smoke & hearing that rearend switch back n forth & forth n back... WOW! |
no one wheel wonder here...:icon_wink:

Im 26 and did a burnout in my blazer. It is fun to do those, but is expensive and a huge worry if you blow something out and not realize you blew it out when youre doing it. Besides, gas is becoming to expensive to be mashing gas to leave strips and show off for a couple seconds. 5 seconds of burnout fun = 1/4 - 1/2 tank of gas wasted.
Ive done a burnout in a 84 ford escort hatchback, because i hate fords and wanted to blow it up. it was falling apart anyway. literally, falling apart. The rear axel was held in by a 3/4" thick steel channel that i had to weld in to hold the axel from falling out. The frame lost pieces everytime i hit a bump, the rear shocks fell completely out, the passenger front tire fell off while i was driving down the road, which was the final straw for me. but it didn't blow up.. the brakes went out on it, when i had it parked before taking it to the scrap yard though.. Done one in a 76 Camaro Z28 when i was a little under 13. Brothers car, just finished working on it, told me to test it out HAHAHAHAHA Strips all the way down the street, thru the stop sign and half down the next street. god i loved that car. i want one because of that. Done one in a 92 Olds achieva (my car before i got the blazer) just to see if i could do it with that piece of crap. It worked. surprised my homie chris, and myself. 2006 Kia Optima, surprised me when i did it in that though. Just finished changing the thermostat and was "opening" it up to make sure it worked. Mashed the gas and left a strip by accident. oops, don't tell my wife.. it was her car. Thats about the the end of my list. Nothing spectacular, except the camaro. The rest weren't made for the burnout aspect. none were done on public roads (cops are everywhere and i can't afford to lose my license or a ticket+fine) all were done in deserted parking lots of abandoned buildings, except the camaro.:icon_steer: |

Wasnt my car... tires didnt get burnt, again given the keys to an LT1 Camaro convertible in high school.... and again tires didnt get burnt... wasnt my car... idk.... But I had a horrible mentor *giggle giggle* I was with my family in vegas one year, and my grandpa rented a mustang (it was 2005) and a newer body style... we were sitting in the 2 place in line at a light... He power break'd it for about 20 seconds until we got a green.... Funniest thing I ever saw |
I didn't buy the blazer for burn outs. I don't have the funds to allow anything to go wrong with this truck. So she hasn't really seen over 2000 rpm's for the past couple weeks.
GRANNY STYLE!! Never was a fan of burnouts. Having to buy and replace all the parts on all my cars got expensive. And after seing a tire basically melt off of a buddies F-150 while he was doing a burnout got me thinking about the likelihood of the same happening to me. No thanks!! |
