im doing a axle swap on my 1997 blazer but ive not seen it done what kind of axles can i use what axles have the same gear ratio as the back

 

Most guys use a jeep yj or xj axle to keep the same width as factory. The yj is a leaf spring axle on the jeep. They also have a driver drop so you don't have to change t-cases. Only problem is the dana 30 is rather limited to 33-35 inch tires.

Also a lot of us swap to a ford 8.8 out of an explorer to keep the same bolt pattern as the front. Find the right one and they use disk brakes and have limited slip.

Easy to find a yj with the 4 banger and they mostly have 4.11 gears. The explorer can be found with. 4.10 and those are close enough to run together just fine.

Over all you need to figure out what tires you want to run and your plans. Let that decide you axle choice as gears can be changed.

 

i have an 88 and i went with dana44 front and rear. the front is out of full size ford f150 and the rear is from a wagoneer. same bolt pattern together but not as the original s10s. dana44 can handle 39" tires. check out my pics on this site.
