I'm not exactly sure how to do it, but you can get a little bit out of it. You can safely get about an inch. Any more will really stiffen the ride in front, and will eat up ball joints in no time. You also will have to get an alignment after its done. IMO, it's not worth it for only an inch. If your front is sagging, which they do occasionally, cranking the bars back up to get it back into factory spec is fine. I saw this called the "Z-Height" somewhere, and how to measure it.

yes, on a 4wd you can tweak the torsion bars. depending on whether yours are already sagging or not, you should get around 1- 1 1/2 inches of lift. If you keep it in that range you should be ok on your ball joints. If you follow your torsion bars all the way back to the crossmember where they mount, you will see an adjustment bolt. I dont remember what size head is on it. jack up the front of the truck and adjust both sides the same amount. Sometimes you will not get the same amount of lift out of both sides so you might have to do this a few times to make it even. The also make replacement torsion bar keys so ou can get even more height by doing this. Like cherryred4x4 said, you should also get an alignment afterward.
