Default 33" clearance

Hey everyone! Well,my name is Joel, This is my first post,I'm new to the site, Me and the family just bought a 2005 Blazer Zr2. Its time to do some things to it already. I'm looking at tires and a local guy is selling 33" BFG ta's. So here is my question. My blazer is Stock right now. Will I be able to through on these tires onto my stock rims and have clearance?Or do I have to go with a smaller tire? Thanks guys!

On the ZR2 you will need 2' of lift at least to run the 33s. BUT...if they are 33x12.50s, you'll still have to do a serious amount of trimming to be able to turn scrub free.

If they are a narrower 33, you will be ok with very minor trimming (if any) and the 2' lift.

I've got a 2000 ZR2 with 2" shackles in the back, 2" BL and just raised the front with about 3/4" Tbar crank. I put the shackles in to get rid of the rear end sag and it brought it up just a bit over the original ride height (hence the tbar crank). With the BL I put on 33X10.5's. I had to do some very minor trimming on the rear flares and have yet to do any on the front. I'll find out very soon if I need to do more when I get it offroad very soon. If you go with 12.5 width plan on doing some trimming up front. Also, be aware, most shops will not put a 12.5 wide tire on a 7" rim. Some will but they tend to be part of the "good ol' boys" club. Not that they are bad folks but I'm guessing there is a reason that others won't.

General guide line for tires to rim is 4"-4 1/2". The tire should not exceed 4"-4 1/2" wider then the rim. If you have the factory 7" wide rims, 11"-11 1/2" is the max tire width.
