Default 35”?

I was interested in putting either 35” or 33” tires on my 02 Chevy blazer. It has a small lift but not enough to put on 35” tires. How much would it need to be lifted to put 35” tires on?? Is it even possible??

35's would be huge on an 02 truck with the OEM suspension style, and you'd risk breaking front axle and suspension parts pretty easy. The front diff and CV axles probably wouldn't take the off-road stress very well, unless you're just mall-crawling. You'd need a minimum of 6" lift, plus a body lift, plus a LOT of fender trimming. Now if you wanted to go with a SFA swap... That's a whole different ball game.

33's fit with a 6" lift, although currently I believe Rough Country is the only one who makes a 6" lift. People have done 33's with a 2" suspension lift + a 2" body lift + a significant amount of fender trimming. You just have to be willing to chop quite a bit of metal out of the fenders.

I ran 32's (265/70/17) on both my '96 Blazer (RIP) and my 02 Sonoma with the lift/trimming combo I just mentioned, and I barely clear the fenders when flexing the suspension off-road. As well, for personal drivability reasons, I wouldn't want to go any taller than 31"-32" without changing the axle gear ratio. I have 3.73 gears in mine with the 32's, and I sometimes miss the acceleration I had with shorter tires. I've contemplated getting 4.10 gears to get that back. My winter tires are 31", and the truck accelerates noticeably faster from a stop.

Thank you for the suggestions. I’m thinking that I will try 32” like you suggested so that I can hopefully avoid fender trimming.
