I have a 96 Blazer 2-dr LS, was able to fit 31's with no rubbing except against the sway bar. I find it interesting that GM sold these with different suspension settings but all they did was tighten torsion bars. Looks good man. I had that problem with the fender bolt when I put my 15x8's on, I removed the bolts and went to work with a sawsall, able to fit 31's on 15x8 rims with 4" BS with only a T-bar crank. Need to get a 2" body lift so I can flex a little more (not quite able to allow full suspension travel yet).

Sorry to contradict you, but this isn't correct. There are 5 different torsion bar sets that came on s-series trucks, depending on the options. From an old thread:

I have a better way, tap both bars forward enough to drop the keys out. then unbolt the two cross member bolts & drop that out. then pull the bars straight out the back.

now that ive said that here is the list of bars gm made
Part Number Bar Dia. NOM Torque
LH 15956501 26.63mm 1052
RH 15956502 26.63mm 1052
LH 15956503 27.94mm 1276
RH 15956504 27.94mm 1276
LH 15956505 29.36mm 1450
RH 15956506 29.36mm 1646
LH 15956509 30.69mm 1883
RH 15956510 30.69mm 1883
LH 15956511 32.51mm 2305
RH 15956512 32.51mm 2305

The old ones had settled two inches since i got it. they were the 27.94mm bars. Put in the 30.69mm bars off a 03 zr2 with 33,xxx miles. I must say, it drives more like a 4x4. feels alot more stable going over bumps.

Many of the newer Blazers came with the softer torsion bars to give them a smoother ride. For anyone who want's a stiffer, more truck like ride you can simply swap out those for a stiffer set. FWIW, the ZR2s mostly came with the stiffer bars. Every torsion bar will come with the last 3 digits of the part number stamped into the end of the bar, but to the best of my knowledge you cannot tell specifically which bars you have from your RPO codes. The only way to know for sure is to pull the bars and check the code stamp.

All that being said, your trucks look awesome, and I love the rims on both trucks.

Can we buy torsion bars new from dealer or parts stores ?

I would be the stiffer bar for a more truck feeling

The 31's are on, I took off the frnt mud flaps and trimed an inch off the the fender there, and took off the plastic bumper/valence. All good but they rub the frame and sway bar at full turn, also rub the wheel well on big bumps, need a body lift next to avoid wheel well rubing and bl should allow for the backspaced rims to fit which push out the tires a couple inches to keep them from rubbing the sway bar or frame. I will soon find out if I need to fill in the cut fenders with bondo to pass Canadian inspection, also will soon find out what the regulations are for mud flaps/fenders and how far the tires can stick out past them? Anyway's till next time.
