Default Tire Pressure/What's the "240" in 35/240 PSI?

'96 Blazer S-10.

Just bought new 30 x 9.50 x 15 tires (BFG/A/Ts). Tire center inflated them to 35 PSI. Door tag says "35/240 PSI/KPA." Huh? What the heck does the "240" stand for and what's "KPA?" Are back tires supposed to be inflated to 24 PSI?

35 psi = 240 kpa

Edit: Wow, the stupid page won't let me capitalize the psi and kpa.
