96 tailgate problems
Hi there! First time posting! Long time owner!
I know this forum is for Blazers but can we make a acception for the Jimmy? I have a Jimmy and its not a typical rig i think. It a competition audio rig! But heres were the problem comes from. Spray foam is a amazing deadening material... but tha foam that works best is stupidly stiff. Long story short, the tailgate, not the glass, the actual truck tailgate mine has. It no longer opens, is there a way to open the latches manually? The handle on the inside is pretty stiff. Ive tried heaving and pulling. Using my weight, me and a friend. No prevails.
Thank you!

You are going to have a tough time on your hands as you likely gummed up everything inside if you did not isolate the handle, control rods, latches & area around them from the expanding foam. There is a certain amount of up/down movement necessary in the control rods from the handle to the latches on either side along with the in/out movement. If those rods are now fixed in foam, the handle cannot do what it is meant to do. And that isn't saying anything about whether foam got into the latches or the handle. About the only thing I can say is you will need to try to remove the inner trim and get at the latches themselves to actuate them.
If I understand your situation correctly, you might try using a long, stiff wire, e.g., an unbent wire coathanger, to poke down between the trim panel and the inside of the tailgate to break up the foam in the vicinity of the latch mechanism.
I'd suggest looking at pictures of what is inside to familiarize yourself with the location of items like the wires you would want to avoid damaging.
