No Start.. Stall.. Backfires Through Throttle Body..
ok i'm posting this as a third party as my dad is computer illiterate lol..
he has a 1989 S-10 Blazer 4.3L 4x4 and has been having some issues for the past week or so.. first off sometimes the truck won't startso he has to pump the gas pedal to get it to start.. it'll start then but will run with a rough idle.. sometimes even spitting up/backfiringthrough the throttle body..
also if he's driving it for awhile he can't shut it off when it heats up because it won't start again..
and while driving the truck runs pretty crappy..
he's changed the fuel filter, plugs, distributor, cap & wires, and the coolant temp sensor.. still to no avail..
any ideas anyone..??? he doesn't think it's the fuel pump so we're baffled... THX in advance for any and all help

RE: No Start.. Stall.. Backfires Through Throttle Body..
Have you tested the fuel pressure? It's a TBI, right? It should be 9-14 psi if so.
When he changed the distributor, did he make sure it was installed correctly? Even one tooth off can mess everything up. How did the plugs look? Were they wet, oily, black...?
Pull and clean the EGR valve, making sure there's no carbon holding the pintle open, and clean the passage behind it.

I would have the ignition coil tested.
