All wheel drive???

All wheel drive???
I recently saw an add for a 2001 ZR2 Blazer stating it had the rare "all wheel drive" option. I tried to research it and the only reference I found was that some ZR2 Blazer LT models were given 4 wheel disc brakes if they had the all wheel drive option. I have a 1998 ZR2 Blazer LT with 4 wheel disc brakes. Does anyone know how I can tell if I have that all wheel drive option. This option is over and above the 4 wheel low and 4 wheel hi selections.

1998 and newer all have 4 wheel disc brakes as standard equipment. In the glove box is a white sticker with the RPO codes, (options that the vehicle is equipped with). They are 3 character codes. Post all that start with "NP".

As for the all wheel drive.. To my knowledge, no blazers have or came with all wheel drive. Only the Bravadas were all wheel drive.
If there is a 4wd switch on the dash, its not all wheel drive.
You might be talking about the "Auto 4wd"

RPO NP3 transfer case was an option, at least for 95 & 96 Blazer LT 4 door. Just can't remember if ZR2 had it available. No wonder it's rare, it really goes against the grain of the ZR2 RPO, if you ask me

NP1 is the NV233 2 speed selectable electric shift transfer case. NP5 is leather wrapped steering wheel. IF the 2001 ZR2 you're looking at truly does have AWD, it would be the NP3, NV136 single speed transfer case. The more common transfer case options would be NP1 or NP8, NV236 transfer case, which is basically the NP1 with a with an "auto" function built in. The "auto" function is basically AWD, but you also have the versatility of being able to select what you want, when you want it.
EDIT: The ZR2 was designed for off road ability where a two speed transfer case would be desired.

I got it. Thanks for the well explained information which is helpful because I am thinking about picking up that 2001 ZR2 as well as it has the sunroof and low miles and maybe make my present one more off road in direction. Up here in Canada gas is pretty high and the 90 Blazer with the 350 and 4:11s costs too much to leave the driveway. The ZR2s are more economical but built strong and look good. I'll look for the NP3 code in the glove box and if it isn't there then I can use this post as proof he's misrepresenting. Might get to knock a few hundred off! Thanks again.
