Default 1995 Blazer 4WD Overheating.

Last night I refilled my rad with 50/50 coolant. After 25 miles of driving it started overheating. After talking to my grandpa, we figured it was the thermostat. This morning, i drove it less than a couple of miles. It wasn't overheating but I had to stop at the light and when I went to go again, it died. It will not restart at all. Any ideas? Its my only vehicle so I need to figure it out quickly.

how did you determine it was the thermostat? also, if there is an air pocket in your cooling system after refilling it, this could give you a false reading on your temp. gauge due to the pocket sitting right where the temp sensor is. the coolant in your system might be overheating but that pocket of air might not. I think its still overheating and I would try to "burp" the coolant system, I would also look into a leak in the intake manifold or head gasket.
