Basically all the chains use the same engine re-manufacturer. I called the actual re-manufacturer once and had a long conversation. The chains just put there own name on them. Autozone calls it "Surefire", Advance calls it something else, NAPA calls them something else. But they all come from the same company (referring specifically to the retail chain engines). I stuck one in recently and it comes with a 3 yr warranty. Below is a link as an example for your truck. Either a DCW1 or a DCW3. Read through to find the differences. One has roller-rockers, one doesn't..etc. Call the 800 number and they'll tell you what to look for to know which engine you need for a direct swap (i.e., besides the stamping number on mine, the 98 blazers have a difference in the way they bolt up to the tranny and motor mounts (metric-v-SAE).

I see they also have a rebate going on...which of course wasn't there when I ordered mine. *sigh* Get back to me in about a year or two and I'll definitely be able to tell you how the engine worked out. Right now,...so far so good (knock on wood...knock, knock, knock).

Also, as you can tell from the images, these are long blocks. There are other items you'll have to buy..like buying the Felpro intake gasket set instead of the Victor-Reinz they send you. You want to buy a new timing cover (can only get it from the dealer). Cap, rotor, plugs, oil, coolant, etc. So even if your trucks direct swap is the DCW1 ($1758.00) you can probably count on being much closer to (if not over) $2300.00 by the time it's all said and done.
