Transmission pan gasket.....cable in the way
I have a 2000 blazer 4WD ST and I am trying to change out the transmission pan gasket because it is now leaking.
I have the deep transmission pan and I am having trouble figuring out how to remove the transmission shift cable from its bracket. Its in the way of one of the bolts I need to remove to drop the pan. I was able to remove the large U shaped metal clip but the cable still wont budge.
Any help would be appreciated.

No problem. I did a write up on how to change the cable and it has some pics of how it attaches if you wanna take a look for reference.

I spent a while looking at the transmission cable for the tabs to press on to release the cable.......finally I grabbed a pair of vice grips, gently squeezed the entire plastic housing just behind the bracket and wiggled the cable out. It was easy.......just not obvious. Thanks for the help.
And for the good news........not much metal in my transmission pan. I didnt quite finish the job yesterday. I just need to add the fluid and give it a test drive.
