Thumbs down Please help with ignition key cylinder

My friend needs help on his 96 2WD S10. Him and his friends were playing tug of war with the ignition key and now the key will not turn. You can insert and remove the key but not turn it. I understand that to remove the ignition cylinder you have to turn the key to the on position, which i cannot. Is it possible they broke the steering wheel lock mechanism? I was not there and an unsure what exactly happened but the tow truck dropped the S10 off at my house and im trying to fix it for him to save him the money. I have the dash bezel and column cover off and the SIR system disabled. Im very good with cars but am afraid to cause further damage so id figured i would ask.

Well i got it guys. i had to drop the column completely to get a better look. After about 6 hours of prying and pulling i finally got the cylinder out, By looking at it it looks like when they were tugging the twisted the locking mechanism. I had to re align everything and change the bent lock cylinder and reassemble.

Never play tug of war with your ignition!
