front axle help
Have a 1994 Full Size blazer 4x4 2 door.
Front axles are not engaging. tried getting another used actuator still nothing. The t case does engage and if i remove the actuator and push fork in manually axles engage. How do I go about testing the actuator and the leads going to it. and where do the leads come from so I can trace them.

Have you tested the wires with a test light to ensure that it is getting power?
Is it a plastic or metal housing to the actuator?
When we replaced the actuator on my dad's 94 K2500 4wd pickup, we had to put on a new harness pigtail to connect up to the stepper motor driven actuator. It was a much more positive engagement. The electro-magnet actuator sucks.

It was a long while ago, but I believe the Dorman 600-101 (or 600101 depending on the source) was the actuator that we used. It did require a different wiring harness though, the wiring harness is Dorman 600-600 (or 600600 depending on the source).
RockAuto.com has the upgraded actuator for $75 and the harness for, yikes, $44...

VEHICLE SERVICED: 1994 CHEVROLET FULL SIZE BLAZER (2 DOOR)
PURPOSE: IMPROVE AXLE CONNECT ENGAGEMENT TIME AND
COMPONENT RELIABILITY.
SYMTOMS: NO FRONT DRIVE AXLE ENGAEMENT WHEN SHIFTED
INTO 4X4.
Obtain the following GM part numbers:
(1) 26060073 Actuator
(1) 88959465 Harness/Spacer Kit
Here's a shot of the old actuator before removal....
The original harness hookup..... You unhook the one on the right. The lower portion goes to the old actuator.
This is the old actuator removed....
I spliced the new brown wire inside to avoid corrosion problems.
I found that the brown wire that comes from the transfer case passes inside through the 4x4 floor shift
console. I loosened the four bolts that hold the mounting plate down and pushed the new wire in along
side the existing wires.
Here's a shot from under the 4x4 floor shifter showing somewhat where the wire goes through..
You can see it tucked under the connector with the brown wire coming out the end.
