Default 1988, Tranny Guage, and Radio Problem!

I just got a 1988 Blazer S-10. It awesome. Runs like it was brand new. But it has a couple problems.

1. it has a aftermarket knewood cd player. It cuts in and out, like its loseing power. or you could say it is jumping. who ever installed it cut out the factory harness, but it is installed correct! The power is conected properly, so is the ground. But sometimes it just keeps "jumping" that it wont play anything, other time it works perfect.

2. This is what my Transmission gaguge looks like, P R N OD D 1 2
But when its in park its to the far left of the gague(out of View), To go into reverse it looks like I'm in park, neutral is in the blank aera, and overdrive looks like R and so on...

Can anyone Help me with these two problems? It would help alot. If I can tget these fixed I have to get rid of it My GF(Fiance) wont drive it at all like this, she's almost hit a parked car by thinking she was in R but was in overdrive. So I wanna keep it!

The tranny selector indicator is out of adjustment. Better buy a Haynes manual and get it adjusted properly. You may have some other problems if the backup lights act up. There are electrical paths in there associated with STARTING the car only in park or nuetral. You may soon find it not starting, starting in gear also, or only starting in gear. Have a good look at the book and fix it quick.

The shift linkage is out of adjustment, and it will have an effect on your back up lights, wiggle the shifter and you can get the back up lights to come on, however like mentioned above, get the book and adjust your tranny linkage properly.
