Very nice truck - nice interior.

The engine you intend to swap in, seems to be fuel injected. This would mean a full fuel system conversion, probably with in-tank fuel pump and return lines, except it already has return lines. But they may not be adequate for fuel injection.

So, the question is:
- Is the engine fuel injected?

Thanks for the kind words, man. I really appreciate it. All of the 3.1 engines were fuel injected from the factory according to all of the research I have done. I can swap the intake manifold from the 2.8 to the 3.1 as well as the distributor and keep it simple. There are various in-line electric fuel pumps I can get to mount about a foot from the tank. The main thing for me is all of these vacuum lines and emissions components I want to eliminate. The less vacuum hoses I have to replace the better since they are all cracked or falling apart. The other thing is the carb on this 2.8 has so many lines running to it that I'd have to block a bunch of them off (not a huge deal and likely the way I end up going for now). I had read somewhere that these stock carbs are junk so if I could find something to replace it with I just might. The plan is to build a cammed 3.4 engine for this vehicle down the road which would include a 4 barrel carb. For now I just want to get her on the road before Winter.

Some guys have done this and then bolted up 4 barrels.

Edelbrock has an aftermarket solution which includes a 2 piece Dual plane intake manifold set that can be used on any 2.8-3.4 longitude 60 degree engine with cast iron heads. Part numbers for Edelbrock Performer Intake Manifold is 3785 and 3789 for non EGR. They also have an EGR version. Since I am going from a 110HP engine to a 140HP engine, perhaps the 4 barrel will be OK with proper jetting for my application. We will see, and soon!
