First, lets look into getting that CAPS lock button fixed...

And there is a HUGE difference between them. In fact, they are completely different. If it was originally equiped, you just have to hope that everything is still there to get it working again...

Your truck originally came with TBI and the motor was swapped out for an older one. What I am saying is that you need to make sure that all of the connections are still there as well as a working PCM to control it. Who knows what was done when the motor was swapped. You can just hope that no permanent changes to the wiring/computer. It is going to be a royal pain to figure out.

You will likely need a TBI intake, throttle body, possibly the fuel line, and whatever electrical wiring that is no longer there. Your best bet would likely be to find another 89 at a local junkyard and either pull everything from it, or use it as a reference to figure out what you need to do with yours.

The 2.8L v6 is a 60 degree v6.

Up till 1985 the 2.8s had a smaller main bearings design compared to the 1986-1993 2.8s. Also in 1986 with the new fuel injection the 2.8 got a small head change being bigger valves. Overall the early motors are fine but the best ones are the 86-93 motors. All exterior parts will swap out between them, just not the crank and related parts, and you don't wanna run one carb and one fuel injected head.

If your wanting more power ditch the 2.8 and find a 1993-1995 with a 3.4 v6 and use the short block with the fuel injection from the s-series.
