the valve cover that has the line that runs to the carb should have a baffle inside it with a filtering medium of some kind ( sorta like a fine brillo pad) that prevents the oil from sucking into the engine. The PCV equipped cover should have the same.

 

you talking about the baffles on the inside of the valve cover?

 

yes...just little bent pieces of tin that are spot-welded onto the cover, they're like an open sided box that the medium fits into.
