Default 1994 4.3 CPI Vortec regulator issue

So I had my fuel pressure regulator start pouring gas into my intake and so on. Made the truck bog, run rich and ultimatly stop running. So after i installed a new regulator and changed my oil casue it was now partly gas it would run very rich when cold and lope at idle and miss at steady throttle. So it drove me crazy, when trying to set timing the mark jumped everywhere even with the connector unplugged to set base timing. So I thought a new distributor would fix it. Well it fixed the timing mark jumping but ran the same. I was ready to give up till i bought a fuel pressure tester. Thing was at 90 psi!!!!! As it turns out there is a screw in the center of the regulator that adjusts pressure. So i pulled the upper intake adjusted it to 60 psi key on engine off and it runs great ever since. Checked for new fuel leaks while i was under there but found none. So the only reason i am posting this is becasue everyone should know the regulator is adjustable becasue that part commonly goes bad and you can end up doing the job again to adjust it or waste money buying a whole new spider injector becasue of misinformed troubleshooting.

Thanks for that info. I replaced mine not too long ago so I may need to test my pressure to see where it's at.

Excellent point indeed. I just replaced mine monday, and for the hell of it, before putting intake back on, I checked the pressure key on and it hit 70 psi, even though the instructions claimed non-adjustable pre-set to 55-60, yet it came with the little torx fitting. As you did, I adjusted it down to 60 psi and it runs better than it has in a very long time. Good advice

which way do you turn it to adjust it, my truck is running fine after a new spider assembly. but would be nice to adjust.
(whcih way to turn when looking at the front of the intake and the back of the FPR is on the passenger side)

Someone else might have to chime in on direction, I kept the guage hooked up and fuel pump relay jumped. I t did not take much, very slight turn did the trick
