I just changed my transmission filter and only have a chiltons for 83-93 and it says 4.4 pts, is that right for the 94 and how many quarts is that? Or just tell me how many quarts is recomended for a 94 4.3 vortec engine w. Thanks

I'm pretty sure you need 4 qts, not 4 pints. And I'd have 5 qts on hand, just in case.

Thanks, I will put the rest of the gallon of fluid in there. I was getting a reading or what looked like a cold reading but it's just easier to know about how much it needs.

You need to check the level on the dipstick first. Then warm it up to operating temperature, running it through all the gears. Then check the dipstick again. Be careful to get the level right - overfilling is as bad as underfilling.

I did a cold check and I went through all the gears and then let it idle for 3 min then checked it. Do you have a chiltons you could check real quick to comfirm the fluid capacity?

According to the factory service manual, drain and refill (filter change) is 5 qts.

Did you have to remove the cross member near the end of the transmission to get the pan off?
