The casting number is not the same as the part number. Where did you get the part number and what isthe casting number on the block?
Thefirst three digits of a1985 - 1998 4.3L Chevy V6 engine casting numbers are100, 101, 102 or 140 . The casting number will identify the model year of the engine without asking a dealership parts department countermanto look it up for you, if it is still listedin theChevrolet computer inventory.
Be advised, the1992 first design engines have casting number 10105903 and the second design have casting number 10224834 were missing the two bolt bossess, one on each side, that were used with the reinforcing struts for the automatic transmission on some of the 1993 and later applications, so they can only be used in a 1992 model. Be sure to check the second design 10224834 blocks because some of those came with the strut bosses and ten bolt holes for the tin front cover.
All of the 10224534 and 10224535 blocks have the two strut bosses and 10 bolt holes for the timing cover so they will fit everything in 1993.
The 10227196 castings have the strut bosses, but they came with either six or ten holes for the timing cover.
The 10224834 blocks have 10 timing cover holes, but they came with ior without the strut bosses.
The 10235359 blocks werre the most confusing because they came with or without the two strut bosses and with either six or ten bolt holes for the timing cover.
Check the casting number because that will save you some grief.
