85 S10 cranks but won't start
Any help please, I have an 85 s10 blazer 2.8 2wd with no ecm. everything had been running good. went to start one morning and it turns but won't start. got a inline spark tester and tried one plug on each side but no light. replaced cap, rotor, icm, coil, wires and plugs are a few months old. fuel pump works and i can smell the gas coming up the carb. with no computer test, running out of ideas. from what i read you guys are pretty good, any suggestions?
It does have new fuel filter and new battery so it cranks strong. Haven't done timing check yet. Is the timing something that can change all of a sudden and cause it not to start? Haven't disturbed the distributer position. What else with fuel delivery should i check?
well i'd loosen up distributor turn it a little one way or the other to check that, check that there isnt any leak anywhere and fuel pressure check, also be sure that the distributor is wired properly and firmly in place. make sure all lines click into place as well, its pretty easy to leave them a little loose especially the center
Will it start with Ether? Smelling the fuel is not necessarily good, it could mean you are flooding, could be caused by a faulty float in the carb, or a the metering device leaking. Try and see if it fires on Ether when its been sitting for a while. Can you see liquid gas inside the carb, or just vapors? Pull a spark plug and see if its wet with gas when youve been cranking and it wont start.
