Question

NEW DEVELOPMENTS.. ok so i got it timed by pulling number 1 plug and having my girlfriends mom bump the key for me.. turns out the second mark was tdc.. well i got the dizzy in (and then figured out she left the key in the on position for 20 min)and hitting in the right area. I got it to start once, and shut it down like a dumb *** to put everything back together.. couldnt get it to fire back up cuz of dead battery. So i brought it to my part store and had them charge it for me. I picked it up last night, along with pugs and wires, dropped it in at it turned like an almost dead battery, even with jumper cables it wont turn over very good.. Now im really confused

YES! it sounds like you got it pretty much in a good place, you just have to adjust it now- as the one prior to me explained just loosen the bolt enough to get the dizzy to rotate ever so slightly, and give it a whirl until it sounds good by ear, then use the timing light to get it in perfect time..

If you have a rubber valve cover gasket you can usually re-use it. He was saying that he was having trouble getting at the number one plug to do as you suggested. I was just offering another alternative to get the same result. This has nothing to do with working in a comissioned shop. Chill out.

sorry its been so long.. Had a death in the family and had to go back east for a few weeks.

So I managed to get it to start a few weeks ago, and turned it off to put the air cleaner back on.. hasn't started since.. got the brand new battery charged at a local shop and it still turns like dead. Even with jumper cables on it, it still hardly turns over. Im at my whits end here guys, and i really need some help. Any idea what would do that?

What is the condition of the battery cable and connections to the starter? A bad cable or a loose connection would not allow enough current flow to the starter. One way you could check is to run a jumper cable from the battery terminal to the starter and try to start the car. (You would have two cables from the battery to the starter) If it is not the battery or the cables I would then remove the starter and have it tested. The starter is fairly easy to remove on the blazer. If none of the above you could remove the plugs and make sure that the engine turns freely without any compression. The car is not a manaul transmission is it? If it is, does the clutch disengage the transmission?
