Sorry in advance... i am a nubbie. does anyone have a trick to get the starter out of this thing?

alot of patience , it comes out only one way. I have spent an hour with no success and had to walk away and when i came back it practicly fell out .

the book is gonna tell u to unbolt the whole crossmember. dont do that take a drill and drill out a hole in the aluminum bell housing just big enough to get that worm gear out and urr golden starter will go in and out like nothing

its been a while since i got under my truck but what i did was loosen the starters 2 bolts then the little cover right under the flywheel, once that was done the bolts from the started was removed completely n the starter was pushed a little towards the front of the engine n up towards the exhaust manifold, twisted @ an angle n it came out make sure u disconnect the cables attached to the starter when u loosen the starter enough so that u can angle it

i've tried everything and i cant get it out i think that i will have to remove the motor mount but i dont think it will go out going forward either.

i ended up haveing to pull the passanger motormount bolt and then jack up the motor to get enough clearance to get the thing in and out. once i did that it came right out and went right in. thanks for all the help

You may have to move the flywheel cover which to get to all the bolts you may have to remove the slip-shaft....good luck-fun job sometimes....Jerry
